About Me

While always being interested in technology from a young age, I officially started working in IT while I was still in high school. I started a small computer repair business and also job shadowed the high school's network administrator.
Once I graduated from high school, I stopped my business then moved on to college. After college, I moved back home and started with a local hardware store as an IT Administrator for their 5 locations.
Over the next 6 years, I moved on to a few different places then settled into my current employer, AI Fire. Since then, I have been promoted three times. I started as 'Systems Engineer' then moved on to 'Sr Systems Engineer - Infrastructure & Security' and now currently hold the role of 'IT Infrastructure Manager'. Along with managing and making all infrastructure decisions, I also manage the IT Systems Engineering team.Outside of work, I enjoy a quiet life with my lovely wife, 3 kids, 2 cats, 1 dog, and an ever-changing number of chickens. Some days it's a home improvement project and other days it's riding ATVs. I also enjoy hiking in new places and seeing all what nature has to give.

Current Role

I have been working remotely for AI Fire since 2018 and am responsible for the IT infrastructure and lead the IT Systems Engineering team. When I started, the company had about 700 employees. Fast forward to today, the company has 2,000+ employees, 50+ locations, and revenue has grown over 1000%. The organization primarily grows through Mergers & Acquisitions which has been non-stop since I started. Aside from scaling the technology with the growing business, we are always seeing new environments with new challenges that need integrating. With those challenges comes the increasing attack surface and have to stay on top of trends to ensure threat actors do not sneak in though the acquired infrastructure.
Some of the technologies I deal with on a day to day are Microsoft 365 (Entra, Intune, Defender, Exchange, Power Platform, Dynamics, etc), Azure, Windows Server, Active Directory, PKI / Public Key Infrastructure, RADIUS, Meraki, VoIP, custom PowerShell scripting, and a whole lot more.

My Ethics

Job Longevity - I have been with my current employer since 2018. I am dedicated to the work I am performing and making sure that it is the best it can be.
Volunteering - I have been volunteering outside of work with my local emergency management since 2017. I have since attained the rank of Corporal, am licensed as an Indiana Emergency Medical Responder, and am the department field training officer.
